Interview Tips

Prepare with confidence for technical and employer interviews

Acing Your Technical Interview

Technical interviews in aviation and engineering typically combine knowledge-based questions with competency-based ones. Solid preparation makes the difference between a good and a great impression.

Before the Interview

  • Research the employer, their fleet, and the specific project or platform.
  • Review your own licenses, ratings, and any limitations.
  • Re-read the job requirements and map your experience to each point.
  • Prepare certified copies of all licenses and certificates.
  • Test your internet, camera, and microphone for video interviews.

During the Interview

  • Be punctual — join a video call 5 minutes early.
  • Dress professionally, even for remote interviews.
  • Answer technical questions clearly and honestly; never overstate your experience.
  • Use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result) for behavioural questions.
  • Ask thoughtful questions about the role, team, and expectations.

Common Question Areas

  • Your hands-on experience with the specific aircraft type or system.
  • How you handle safety, compliance, and documentation.
  • Examples of troubleshooting or problem-solving under pressure.
  • Your availability, notice period, and relocation readiness.

After the Interview

  • Send a brief thank-you email if you have the interviewer's contact.
  • Keep your phone and email available for follow-up.
  • Have your documents ready in case of a fast-moving offer.
